How to take body measurements for garment fitting:
You may be asked for certain measurements for a particular garment you are ordering. Some measurements are left out because they are not needed for the pattern. Only supply us with the measurements needed. This is a guide to help you take proper measurements. Make sure you measure carefully and measure twice. It is a good idea to have someone else measure you.

Keep in mind -

1. The person should be wearing her normal undergarments only, no jeans, blouses, flattening sports bras, etc. Padded bras are okay, if that is what she would normally wear with the style you are measuring her for.

2. Lay the tape measure flat against the skin; don't pull it tight, nor let it droop.

3. To find the true base of the neck, have the person tilt her head forward so that knobby bone at the base of the neck (the cervical) is obvious. That point is the back of the neck . Have her straighten up her head again when you take measurements from there. Remember: cervical = base of neck.

4. To find the waist, tie a string around the general waist area. Have her raise or loosen and lower the string to where she feels is her waist. Larger women may dip the waist string in the front; this is perfectly fine. Keep the string on while you take the measurements.

F-cervical (back of neck) out to shoulder, then down to wrist. Arm should hang straight.
G-back width, one inch above fold of armscye
H-back waist length, from the cervical down to the waist  Check your measurement H against the numbers in this guide.  Just as a double check, if your measurement is more than 1 1/2" different, please re-measure.  This vertical measurement is very important.

Double Bolded text in the diagram key below are the most frequent measurements we ask for our garments.
Other measurements may or may not be needed. If other measurements are needed, a seamstress will contact you and ask for measurements using this guide as a reference.
